Fast, safe, and Fun; this is the simplest way of describing a 1-day Bisoke Hike, at the giant Virunga chain of Mountains in the continent of Africa. The summit of Mountain Bisoke is in Volcano’s national park; in the northeastern part of Rwanda.
This time is not to encounter the Mountain Gorillas; but rather to take a breather above the ground. Hiking to Mount Bisoke summit lasts for approximately 3-4 hours, with great views of several other mountain summits, plants, and park residents. The hike is strenuous but very possible and unforgettable. Pickup and drop-off are at Kigali Rwanda.
Day 1: Pickup, Ascend, and Descend Mount Bisoke
Today’s adventure starts very early in the morning, with a pickup drive from Kigali Rwanda at about 5:00hours local time. a Drive from Kigali to Volcanoes national park lasts for about 2-3 hours, with a sight of the local natives heading to tilt their land, the rolling hills, and plantations.
You will check-in at the park headquarters for registration, and briefing by the park rangers who will explain the dos and don’ts of trekking, as well allocate porters and whatever is needed for the hike.
The foothills of Mount Bisoke are known for harboring the mount Gorillas, once in a while feast on the foliage. You will ascend to the summit for about 3 hours, take photos, and admire the captivating landscape, after which you will return to the foothills to meet your driver-guide for Lunch. After Lunch, you will be driven back to Kigali Rwanda for a drop-off.
