Book this 3 Days Bwindi/Mgahinga from Kigali and visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from Kigali, Rwanda. This 3 Days Mgahinga/Bwindi Gorilla Trekking from Kigali Tour also offer a Kigali to Bwindi gorilla trekking and Kigali to Mgahinga gorilla trekking safari options.

Day One: Drive from Kigali to Uganda

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence in Kigali in the morning by 09.00hrs. For those that will require a pick-up from the airport, it is also possible for flights arriving in the early morning or latest mid-morning to allow enough time to accomplish all the necessary immigration procedures at the airport upon arrival.

Once you have gone through all the required immigration protocols, have a short safari briefing and introduction by your tour guide, get on board your vehicle and transfer to Bwindi with a stay in the Rushaga sector or Kisoro town at the foothills of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

You will need two Rwanda visas and one Uganda visa or better still, get an East African single tourist visa that costs USD 100, which allows you to freely move within the three East African countries that is Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya.

Day Two: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Tick off Gorilla trekking from your bucket list today. The Gorillas you will track will be either one of the ten habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day in Rushaga or the habituated Nyakagezi group; the only gorilla family that tourists can track in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

One of the intriguing things about Nyakagezi group is that its oldest silverback-Bugingo is estimated to be as old as Uganda, 56years. This makes it one of the 10 oldest mountain gorillas left in the world.

Despite having been overthrown by his son Mark as leader of the clan, he still lives in the family. This is a historical occurrence as it is very unusual for once dormant silverback to stick around after being overthrown. In most cases, they prefer to seek refuge from other Gorilla groups and start over, or chose to die in isolation.

Enter the forest in search for the gorillas starting at the nest where they spent the previous night. Follow their spoor and dung through tangled undergrowth and a bamboo forest until you reach a random location where these soulful-eyed creatures are grazing.

On hearing them from a distance, you are bound to panic in fear for the worst as they don’t sound friendly! Worry not; they look beastly on the outside because they are three times more enormous than an average human male. However deep down they are so peaceful and loveable.

Day Three: Return to Kigali

Drive back to Kigali with drop off at your hotel or residence. If having an onward journey, drop off at the airport in time for your flight.
