8 days of exploring Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Diani Beach is one of the most rewarding adventures in East Africa. The 8 days Bwindi & Diani Beach Tour leads you to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking and finally to Diani Beach in Kenya to unwind on the white sand beach and turquoise waters of Mombasa.
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, south-western Uganda
After a remarkable breakfast at the Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, prepare for pick-up by your safari guide. He/she will first brief you on the exciting trip then you can embark on the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This journey will take between 8 and 9 hours to the beautiful Park, while relishing the jaw-dropping sceneries of the south-western and western Uganda countryside and traveling through tarmacked roads through the rolling hills.
This long and rewarding journey offers views of the lush rolling hills of south-western Uganda, the Ankole long-horned cattle and roadside markets. Arrival in Bwindi is in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and cultural retreat in Batwa communities
On having a lovely breakfast, respond to the calls of the jungle for the gorilla trek with sights and sounds of the Park’s birds, mammals and butterflies. First have a short briefing from the Park Ranger on the guideline of trekking the mountain gorillas.
Trekking the endangered mountain gorillas within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park involves hiking hilling, holding on tree branches for support, crossing rivers and valleys, walking through muddy and slippery trails and sometimes falling on the ground to find the mountain gorillas. Spend one hour watching and photographing the mountain gorillas before descending the slopes to the Park Headquarters for drive to your Lodge.
In the afternoon have a cultural tour within Batwa or Bakiga communities where you will learn about basket weaving, traditional dishes, ancient fire-making skills with sticks (for the Batwa) and climaxed by an energetic cultural dance performance. Retiring to your place of stay is in the evening for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 3: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
On having breakfast from the Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, embark on a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation after the hectic gorilla trek. Undertake a canoe ride while exploring the different bird species and Islands.
One of the must-visit Islands on this Lake is the mysterious Punishment Island and later retire to your Lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight while reminiscing on the day’s activities.
Day 4: Return to Entebbe Airport
On enjoying a delicious breakfast, begin your 8-10 hours’ journey back to Entebbe where you will spend overnight. En-route you will make a stop at Mbarara Town for Lunch, Mpambire Drum makers and Uganda Equator.
Day 5: Fly from Entebbe to Mombasa Airport
A delicious breakfast and continue to the Airport for a flight to Mombasa Airport. On setting foot at Mombasa, your driver will be ready to take you to your Hotel for meals, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 6: All day Tour of Mombasa City
Have breakfast and embark on a Tour of different tourist sites in Mombasa City that include Fort Jesus, Haller Park and Old Town, then return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Full day unwinding at Diani Beach
You will spend the entire day at Diani Beach, engaging in water sports such as scuba diving, sky diving and snorkeling or refreshing activities such as sunbathing along the white sand beach or swimming in the Turquoise waters. Lunch at the Oasis Beach Bar & Restaurant or the African Post Restaurant where you will enjoy different seafood delicacies. Retire in the late evening to enjoy dinner and overnight at the Resort.
Day 8: Return to Mombasa Airport for departure
Start your day with a hefty breakfast and embark on a drive to Mombasa City/Airport for check-in at the Hotel or flight back home. Your journey involves making stops at the different historical buildings, Museums and Monuments. This marks the end of your 8 days Bwindi & Diani Beach Safari.
