The best without limitations! A 3 days hike to the summit of two mountains in the giant Virunga ranges; sprawling through three countries in the East and central part of Africa is here for you. Mountain Karisimbi has the highest summit of the eight mountains in the chain and the 11th highest peak in Africa, whereas Mount Bisoke is one of the eight mountains in Virunga chain; known for the presence of mountain gorillas at its base.

This trip demands no much mountaineering experience, but some average level of physical fitness could be necessary. Both mountains are found in Volcanoes National Park; north of the Republic of Rwanda in the east of continent of Africa. The trip starts and ends in Kigali city.

Day 1: Pickup, ascend and descend Mount. Bisoke

Today, you will be picked up by our company representative from Kigali international airport, around the city or any other agreed point.

A drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park lasts for roughly 2 hours, through a route marked by breathtaking landscape and flourishing flora. Hiking Mount. Bisoke is a warm-up to the next day’s hike on the 11th tallest mountain in the continent of Africa.

There is going to be an early morning arrival at the park that ushers you to other visitors, hikers and the park rangers for briefing; the first activity at about 07:30 am for about 30mins at the park headquarters.

Thereafter you start the hike to Mount Bisoke summit, a 3-4 hour hike; with lots of primates to encounter, birds, and vegetation. As you arrive at the top, take photos, admire the captivating landscape and ask any questions, before having a lunch break.

Just after the picnic meal, descend the mountain to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay. Mountain Bisoke summit is covered with fog, not snow.

Day 2: Ascend Mount. Karisimbi

After early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for document verification and briefing, and thereafter you proceed to the foothills of Mount Bisoke; a trailhead to Mount Karisimbi. The hike is a bit strenuous but very possible, and interesting; taking about 6-7 hours.

This hike exposes you to lots of breathtaking landscapes, other mountains in the chain, plantations and primates such as monkeys and gorillas on a lucky day.

There will be a stopover for some acclimatization and lunch, before hitting the peak in the evening for photography and sightseeing. Excited, contented, and tired, you will head to your camp for dinner and overnight stay on the mountain slopes.

Day 3: Descend Mount Karisimbi and Departure

With the strike of the first sunrays, wake up to a scenic breakfast meal at the summit and thereafter descend to the foothills, for your departure. The driver-guide will welcome and drive you for lunch, before dropping you at the agreed point or Kigali international airport.
