This 6 Days Uganda safari will take you to the Pearl of Africa’s most visited destination in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is a haven of four of the big five and other reputable mammal species. You will start the adventure from Lake Mburo national park the tiniest park in Uganda and thereafter head to the primate capital in East Africa (Kibale national park).
Kibale forest is the best chimpanzee trekking spot in addition to a variety of other primate species. You will also get a chance to interact with the friendly Toro people in Isunga cultural community.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and a stopover at the Uganda equator
On the very first day of your trip, you will be picked up by a professional guide from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe after an incredible breakfast. You will head to Lake Mburo national park via the Kampala-Masaka highway. The park is home to diverse wildlife and among others include zebras, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, leopards, impalas, warthogs among others.
As well birds are spotted here including Pelicans, Black Crake, Common Squacco, Striated, Goliath, Purple, and Black-headed among others. You will have a stopover at the equator to get a chance to take photos and buy souvenirs as a memento of your time at this landmark. Head over to the park where you will have lunch at your lodge. You will spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and settling in.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
Wake up to a pleasant breakfast. After proceed out for the morning game drive. You can alternatively have this on horseback and experience one of the memorable ways of having a game drive in the wild.
Spot animals like zebras, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, leopards, impalas among others. After the drive head back to the lodge, have lunch and prepare for your afternoon boat cruise. The cruise offers visitors the opportunity to explore the lovely lake that influenced the name of the park. The cruise takes place on Lake Mburo which is the main lake among the other 14 lakes. More will be spotted after putting your focus on crocodiles and hippos.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following your breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP. This is the only place which is filled with big game like elephants, buffaloes and antelopes as you head to your hotel for lunch and dinner later.
Queen Elizabeth has a lot to be spotted and enjoyed; including Kazinga channel with its hippos and crocodiles, lake Nyamunuka that is a hospital for different animals since it contains minerals, the Mweya peninsula and Kasenyi plains that supports game drives, the Kyambura gorge with its chimpanzees and Lake Katwe where salt is mined traditionally.
Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise
Have your breakfast and head out for the morning game drive. Be ready to engage on the best safari in Africa’s savannah plains. The park offers diverse range of animals from big lion prides, elephants, herds of Buffaloes and exquisite landscapes. The game drive normally takes place in the Kasenyi plains and Mweya peninsula and lasts for not more than 3 hours. After the game, drive head back for lunch and an afternoon boat cruise. Meet the largest school of hippos in Africa, local and migrant birds plus animals strolling the banks after a drink from the Kazinga channel. Head back to your lodge and enjoy beautiful African sunset.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale national park and visit Isunga Cultural Community
Early morning check out of your lodge and set off for Kibale national park in Fort portal. On your way to the primate capital of the region, you will get to view the beautiful countryside of Kabarole from the numerous crater lakes to meticulously kept farms. You will check-in at and partake in your delicious lunch.
Rest for an hour then visit the wonderful Isunga culture community. Here you will engage in activities like cold spring experience, top of the world hike, and later in the evening taste the local cuisine while enjoying exhilarating performances from the community members. After dinner head back to you have a good night’s rest and prepare for chimpanzee trekking in the morning.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer back to Kampala
Wake up early for breakfast. Go to the briefing point and set out into the forest in search of the cheeky chimpanzees. Considered the closest relatives to humans you will spend a memorable one hour with these playful, loud and enchanting apes.
While in the forest meet and spot other primates like the grey-cheeked mangabeys, colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others and again spot birds like the great blue turacos, the green breasted pittas among others after you will head back to Kampala. You will have an en-route lunch in Mubende and then finally be dropped at Entebbe international airport as you wait for your flight.
