Day One: Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park
Early morning meet and greet at your residence or hotel in Kampala. Drive to Lake Mburo National Park via the Uganda Equator. Have a brief stop at the Equator for photo shoots and thereafter continue with our journey passing major towns like Mpigi, Masaka, and Lyantonde to Lake Mburo.
Arrive at Lake Mburo National Park in time for lunch followed by an afternoon siesta. In the late afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Mburo Lake, the largest of the five lakes that lie within the park boundaries. The lake and lush fringing vegetation support healthy populations of buffalo, warthog, bush pig, and hippopotamus.
End your day in an adventurous manner with a sundown game drive with sightings like the Rothschild’s giraffe, eland (Africa’s largest antelope), nearly always warthog, topi, sitatunga, impala, common duiker, bushbuck, Burchell’s zebra, klipspringer, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and Bohor reedbuck among others.
Birdwatchers will enjoy more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo National Park, which include acacia-associated birds and papyrus endemics, like the striking papyrus gonolek, the highly localized papyrus yellow warbler (recorded nowhere else in Uganda), and the common African fish eagle. Dinner and overnight at your preferred accommodation facility.
Day Two: Return to Kampala
Wake up to the beautiful sunrise in Lake Mburo. Have a hot cup of tea or coffee with a bite followed by a briefing by your ranger guide before heading to the African bush for your safari walking experience in the company of your ranger guide.
A safari walk in Lake Mburo National Park is most revealing as all of your senses come into play and you feel part of nature experiencing the African bush. Enjoy a face-to-face encounter with the wildlife resident in the park whilst on foot and thereafter, return to your accommodation for a full breakfast and a little rest.
At your desired and agreed time, check out of your accommodation and bid farewell to Lake Mburo heading back to Kampala with drop off at your hotel or residence.
